Amanda Cortese, LCMHC, ATR-BC (she/her- exploring)
- Licensed in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine
- Offering: individual telehealth sessions for ages 12+
- Amanda’s message: I am a Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) and Mental Health Counselor offering tele-therapy services and specializing in neurodiversity and gender affirming care. I believe that the most important aspects of a counseling partnership are trust, understanding and being truly seen. As a result, my sessions tend to be flexible and my clients are encouraged to attend in ways that make them feel most comfortable (as long as it’s safe). If that means pacing or fidgeting, drawing, cuddling with a pet, having a snack or even playing games, I think there’s value in being physically comfortable. I don’t require eye contact, I won’t censor my client’s tone or language (I often swear myself), and unless an insurance requires visuals, cameras can be kept off for most or all of session when clients prefer. I have a strong personal connection with geek culture and love to support my clients’ explorations of hobbies, special interests and non-traditional social connections through understanding and enjoyment of pop culture, video games, cons, online forums, etc.
- My approach to treatment is eclectic, applying aspects of CBT, Reality Therapy, Gestalt Therapy and Art Therapy depending on what each client needs in each meeting. I am trauma-informed and have experience treating anxiety, depression, gender dysphoria, selective mutism, stress and medical trauma in addition to specializing in ADHD and ASD-I supports.
- I invite new clients to reach out by email to schedule a consult call and to inquire about current insurances being accepted.
