Therapist Directory

Our mission is to help connect neurodivergent clients with neurodivergent therapists. We pre-screen all providers who are listed on this directory to verify their licensure, however, we do not and cannot make any guarantees regarding services offered. Each provider listed has committed to providing support while honoring the Neurodivergent Therapists Values. Please inform the Neurodivergent Therapists founder, Amelia Slama, if you have any concerns about a provider on our directory.

Click on the links below to access providers based on your state. If your state does not have a link, this means that we do not have a provider in that state at this time. Please check back regularly, as we continue to add providers to our directory.

I often work with clients in determining which (if any) work/school accommodations may be beneficial and assist clients in navigating that process. My approach is warm and curious, and I get the most joy out of learning about my clients in terms of the “whole person” they are, versus a diagnosis.

  • Phoenix’s message: “I offer high quality, high impact therapy designed specifically for neurodivergent folks. I can help you move from feeling stuck, traumatized, and misunderstood to feeling safe, seen, and living your full expression. I support my clients with an innovative, holistic approach that offers effective treatment fast. Nervous system activation and becoming stuck in fight/flight/freeze is the core problem of those who suffer from anxiety, overstimulation, meltdowns, depression and unresolved trauma. Instead of spending years “talking it out,” I work with you to resolve the root cause of your suffering through nervous system recovery, building coping skills/strategies, lifestyle changes (such as diet, exercise, and sleep habits), and spiritual connection. Feel better soon, not years from now. I am on a mission to serve the communities I represent and have a deep connection with. I personally identify as neurodivergent (Highly Sensitive Person with autistic and ADHD traits), white/Latinx, pansexual, demisexual, genderqueer, an empath, and am polyamorous. I am passionate about working with these populations and helping them to feel seen, understood, and validated.”

Mandy Dorsett

Mandy Dorsett, LSW (she/her)

  • LSW in Colorado
  • Services: Individual and family
  • Mandy’s message: I believe that while traditional therapy in an office can be really helpful for some people, it’s not for everyone. I combine evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy with experiential practices like animal assisted therapy, adventure therapy, and nature-based therapy. What does that end up looking like? Well, we might hike up a mountain to practice deep breathing while tolerating distress. Or we might meet at a climbing gym to practice mindfulness and workshop social skills. Or we might hang out under a tree with my therapy dog, Cascade, and talk about coping with burnout. I work with adolescents and their families, with people who are navigating being neurodivergent, with adults, and with people who are postpartum. My goal is to help people develop skills to deal with what’s going on in their lives. Please check out my website for more information about my approach and how I work with specific neurodivergencies! (On my website, I have a fill-in-the-blank contact sheet that makes reaching out really easy, too).

Amanda Kruger

Amanda Kruger, LPC (she/her/hers)

  • Licensed in Colorado LPC.0014866
  • Services: Individual and group therapy and coaching for adults and adolescents offered in person and telehealth
  • Amanda’s message: Are there times you feel like everyone else has it together, but you are still trying to figure it out? Does your heart break when you or your children face repeated rejection and added challenges because of something you can’t control? Neurodivergence and/or disability can make us feel like outsiders. The constant stress of being different takes a toll on our mental health. Copper Well Counseling focuses on providing neurodivergent-affirming therapy, trauma therapy and financial therapy. Many neurodivergent and disabled people have suffered trauma due to being misunderstood and mistreated. We are left with subconscious or internalized ideas about our worth and our potential. Trauma therapy can address and eradicate these unhelpful thoughts. I practice a form of trauma therapy called EMDR which is great for neurodiversity because it addresses the whole brain instead of just the “talking parts” of the brain. Financial therapy can be helpful in addressing money stress. This arises for neurodivergent people because there are often complicating factors around spending, saving, impulsivity, and planning for the future. I am neurodivergent, and I have neurodivergent and disabled kids. I know the experience of not fitting in and the agony of watching your kids struggle in a world that doesn’t accept them. I am here to help you work with the challenges of being different, heal from the pain of rejection, and embrace the power of neurodiversity.

Lila Low-Beinart

Lila Low-Beinart, LPCC (she/her)

  • LPCC Licensed in Colorado: LPCC.0019402
  • I offer individual, family, in-person, and telehealth. I accept Aetna, BCBS, and Cigna insurance.
  • Lila’s message: As a neurodivergent person, moving through a world built for neurotypical people can be an overwhelming and disempowering experience. When social pressure or trauma leads you to mask who you really are, it can lead to depression, anxiety, stress, and/or a sense of not inhabiting or controlling your own body. Sometimes, the more you try to fit in, the more alienated you become from yourself and those around you. As a highly sensitive autistic woman, I am passionate about supporting the strengths of neurodivergent girls/women with intersecting identities by providing a safe haven to unmask and live more authentically. We collaborate to develop tools to compassionately and courageously navigate the world. Our work together is informed by my contemplative and mindfulness-based training and an intersectional anti-oppression lens. I am deeply committed to building a non-judgemental, curious, and compassionate space to allow your inherent wisdom to shine through. My therapy is neurodivergent-affirming, LGBTQ+ and trans-affirming, kink-affirming, polyamory-affirming, anti-ableist, anti-racist, and culturally sensitive. I strive to create a brave space where you are encouraged to be your true authentic self. I work with individuals of all ages including young children. I invite you to schedule a free 15-minute consultation so we can talk more about your needs, curiosities, fears, and desires for therapy. I would be honored to be part of your journey.

  • Offers holistic online therapy for individuals (adults)
  • River’s message: “Healing happens when we feel safe enough to show up exactly as we are. All parts of you are welcome here. I’m not here to change you or fix you. I don’t think you are “broken” or that there’s anything “wrong” with you. Together we’ll create an accepting and compassionate environment, with respect for your intuition + body’s wisdom underlying all that we do. I’m an autistic therapist, trauma + social justice-informed, and view therapy through an intersectional lens (bodymind, environment, culture). During our time together, we’ll likely look at environmental factors (interpersonal, economic, oppression) that create individual/collective stress and trauma. Neurodiversity affirming + LGBTQIP2S affirming

  • LCSW-C in Maryland
  • Services: Individual Therapy, Social Groups (building authentic connection through shared interest and experience not social skills training), Parent Consultation (short-term and ongoing), Group Therapy, In-Person Services in Bel Air, Maryland, Telehealth Services for all of Maryland
  • Courtney’s message: I work best with children who have BIG, confusing feelings and don’t tend to respond well to CBT workbooks or traditional parenting approaches like counting, sticker charts, or time-out. As a neurodivergent human myself, I remember how frustrating the labeling of my feelings were to me and how I despised the expectation that I follow adults’ advice because they ‘are older.’ Rather than being the “expert” (read: robot) who rambles off unilateral solutions and approaches, I prefer a collaborative approach to therapy and parent consultation sessions. I don’t “fix” children or “modify” behavior; I build upon strengths and interests to help my clients (and their caregivers) figure out ways that work for them to help them be able to thrive in a society that wasn’t built for those of us outside of the ‘norm,’ My approaches build upon the work of looking for what’s underneath challenging behavior and focusing on helping the entire family regulate and collaborate. With clients, I utilize child-centered play, animal-assisted interventions, walk & talk sessions, ACT, and mindfulness-based CBT. In parent consultation sessions, I build upon the work of those with lived experience along with neurodiversity-affirming researchers. If you think I would be a helpful fit for your family, and you’re willing to do the work alongside your child, please reach out to me today!

I’m an autistic therapist, trauma + social justice-informed, and view therapy through an intersectional lens (bodymind, environment, culture). Elizabeth Ponds

Sarah Elizabeth Ponds, LCSWA (she/they)

  • LCSWA in North Carolina
  • Services: Individual psychotherapy, both in-person and telehealth.
  • Sarah’s message: I offer psychotherapy services in North Carolina to clients age 11+. I enjoy working primarily with teens and young adults. I am a queer, autistic, white, Southern, progressive therapist and social worker who believes that every client is the expert of their own experiences. I believe the goal of therapy is for a client to work on self-healing as they find healing within the community, so that they no longer need therapy. I work with clients with all types of trauma, including religious trauma, intimate partner violence, family systems trauma, etc.. I help clients deconstruct oppressive ideologies, whether we are directly harmed by them or were indoctrinated to believe them. I also specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ clients, including asexual, aromantic, transgender, nonbinary, and bisexual clients. I utilize evidence-based practice and an eclectic approach to fit each client’s needs. My primary approach is solutions-focused, which means that I help you focus on attainable goals, but I am trauma-informed and often utilize somatic techniques and CBT in conjunction. Therapy is a co-creative process that requires clients to be accountable for their own growth. I practice cultural humility and competence as an intersectional feminist. I actively listen to diverse voices in the community so that I can empathetically and sensitively help clients of all races, classes, abilities, beliefs, etc. It would be a privilege to help you in your self-empowerment journey!

  • MMFT in TN license #2027
  • Services: Individual and couples therapy, 10+, in person and teletherapy in TN. Neurodivergent affirming, LGTBQIA+ affirming.
  • Katie’s message: I am a late diagnosed ADHD-er providing trauma-informed, somatically focused care for each of my clients through Internal Family Systems, EMDR, IFIO, and narrative approaches. Seeing how therapy changed (for the better!) for my clients as I discovered the complexity of my brain, I seek to offer the space for each of my clients to see their fullness of being as it has been shaped by their neurotype, sexual and gender identity, and their lived experience, including childhood traumas, sexual traumas, religious trauma, and intimate partner abuse. As an empathic lover of the natural world, I have seen how each plant grows and blooms, retreats and dies back, all on its own time. I believe that each of us carry this inner wisdom for our own lives. So if you are feeling stuck in anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, withdrawal, dissociation, burnout, relational issues, or PTSD and C-PTSD symptoms, and you need a partner to walk with you as you replant your garden for fullness of being – reach out. • Melody’s message: “I’m Dr. Melody Abbene, a neurodivergent clinical psychologist licensed in California (PSY29249) and Texas (38786). I am passionate about working with neurodivergent adults of all ages, particularly autistic adults and adult ADHD-ers. Christine Henry, Ph.D.

Dr. Christine Henry (she/her)

  • Licensed Psychologist (Texas 35103)
  • PsyPact Certified: Dr. Henry is able to see clients in Ohio, Illinois, and Indiana under psypact certification.
  • Services: Teletherapy for adults (25+) both individual and group therapy.
  • Dr. Henry’s message: I work with adults (25+) who are able to have strong connections to animals but struggle in their relationships with people. My clients come to me after trying everything they can to help themselves such as reading self-help books and listening to podcasts but still feel stuck. They typically have a trauma history and despite being in therapy have symptoms that persist. After watching you tube videos and TikTok’s they start to wonder if they are autistic or ADHD. Together we tease apart what is trauma and what is being Neurodivergent. With this new understanding we process how to move forward with this new identity in a neurotypical world. I offer online therapy which allows clients to be in the comfort of their own home or office. If they have pets, it can feel nice to have them by their side as they process difficult emotions in session. Besides my clinical focus I also have lived experience being late diagnosed as being Neurodivergent myself. This is in addition to living with my twice exceptional daughter with PDA, my ADHD son, and my ADHD/Autistic partner.

  • Services: Individual and couples counseling for teens (11+), adults, and older adults. May be offering groups in the future. In-person, virtual, or hybrid services offered. Accepting clients virtually from anywhere in the state of Texas.
  • Emily’s message: Nice to meet you! My name is Emily and I am a Licensed Master Social Worker in Austin, TX. Whether you arebrand new to therapy or have years of experience, I look forward to helping you on the next part of your journey! Although we haven’t met yet, I accept you exactly as you are. As a neurodivergent individual myself, I love working with neurodivergent clients, which includes (but is not limited to) those with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, Tourette’s syndrome, dyspraxia, and learning disabilities. I also love working with HSPs (highly sensitive people) and individuals with physical disabilities. I do not pathologize clients; instead I focus on their strengths and their unique, valuable insights. I encourage my clients to switch away from the mindset of “something’s wrong with me.” Instead we focus on the struggles created by living in a society that was not built with us in mind, and find support and coping techniques that are less taxing. I particularly love working with individuals on identity exploration, self-esteem, life transitions, grief and loss, relationships, time and stress management, and autonomy. I also love incorporating geek therapy when clients are interested! Feel free to reach out to me for a free consultation if you’re interested in learning more. I’d love to chat with you and hear more about your goals for therapy. You can schedule a consultation through our website portal or email me. Looking forward to speaking with you!

I am neurodivergent myself and have a unique perspective into what it means to navigate a world that doesn’t always feel accepting. I take a systems focus in therapy and look to other factors in the world that might be affecting you outside of your immediate ecosystem. I have experience working with adolescents and adults on a variety of concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, self-esteem and self-worth, body image issues, chronic health issues, issues related to neurodivergence, and managing the day-to-day stresses of life. We’ll work collaboratively to assess your goals and needs and make sure that we are gearing therapy towards what you are most interested in versus what anybody else thinks is best!

Natalie Furdek

Natalie Furdek, M.Ed., LPC, CASDCS (she/her)

  • LPC in Texas
  • Offers individual teletherapy services
  • Natalie’s message: I’m an autistic Licensed Professional Counselor (TX LPC #17569) born and raised in Texas. I currently live off the Caprock in Texas, and my roots lie in this and other areas of the state that often lack quality counseling services. This is the reason I’ve chosen to provide online counseling services. I’ve also found that many neurodivergent clients enjoy and prefer online services because of the reduction in hassle of commuting to an office, as well as the ability to be in surroundings that are comfortable and familiar while engaging in therapy. I have worked with a wide and inclusive range of neurodivergent clients on issues such as trauma, depression, substance use, stress and anxiety, gender and sexual identity, and many others. My approach is client-centered, which means that I believe that the therapeutic relationship between counselor and client is the most important aspect of therapy. Beyond that, my tools are cognitive behavioral in nature, with a heavy emphasis on mindfulness skills and self-compassion. In 2021, I became a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist after learning about the unique ways in which many females, non-binary, and transmen (and many men and transwomen as well!) experience being autistic (including myself!). While I am not an expert and do not “specialize in autism,” I have embraced the neurodiversity movement fully. I do not look at neurodivergence as “pathology,” but rather as natural and normal ways of existing as human beings. I enjoy teaching neurodivergent clients (autism, ADHD/ADD, dyslexia, etc.) about these concepts because of the healing that it brings.

    • Are you a young adult woman (or AFAB) questioning if you are neurodivergent? Are you struggling with the stress and anxiety of everyday life? Do feel socially awkward and experience sensory concerns? You compare yourself to others and often feel overwhelmed to the point of feeling like you are having a meltdown. You feel like you’re different from everyone else and don’t fit in (ASD/ADHD?). As a neurodivergent woman, myself (ASD & ADHD), I utilize not only my clinical knowledge but also my personal experience to best understand you and connect with you on a deeper level. There is no better feeling than understanding yourself, being heard, and feeling validated; using various screening tools, I can assist you in determining which neurodivergent criteria you best fit into.
    • I’ll provide you with a safe and soothing therapy space and offer you a variety of simple tools you can use to help you learn how to work with your brain instead of working against it. You deserve to feel heard and be understood. I have a caring & empathetic approach that includes using humor as a tool.
